Introducing Your 2018 FunFair Team

The 2018 FunFair is just around the corner and your FunFair team has been working hard to prepare for the June 1 – 3 event. This year many of the annual FunFair volunteers will be returning along with some new faces, it’s time to get to know your FunFair committee. Chair, Brent Lawrie,  is back at his role as head of the FunFair committee. This year he hopes to lead the team to another great FunFair! Our own Ian Chamberland, who will provide facilities management support for the Funfair this year and also be the new Co-Chair.

Ben Charlebois, our returning Treasurer, will ensure that our budget is maintained, the bills are paid and honourariums are properly dispersed throughout the community.

The FunFair is looking for sponsors. Betsy Schagerl, Sarah Morgan-White and Trisha Cloutier will be leading the Sponsorship team. Visit our sponsorship page for more information about the sponsorship program and how it can benefit you or your business. If you would like to be a sponsor by donating to the FunFair, please contact us to let them know.

Once again, Mike Murphy and Kevin Wright will provide an outstanding musical line-up and stage coordination. This is no easy feat. Every year these two guys work hard to bring us an excellent lineup for our entertainment. Check out this year’s exceptional lineup and schedule for more information.

The Fun Run has quickly become a popular event to showcase our community spirit. Erika Coghill has grabbed the reigns this year to coordinate the Blackburn Fun Run on Sunday June 3rd. The committee would love to see an increase in participation for both the 1K and 5K runs. Registration can be done online and participation fees are among the lowest in the city. All proceeds go to support the annual FunFair.

Let’s not forget the ever popular FunFair Parade! Jennifer Belanger,  and Francois Trepanier will be coordinating the “Day at the Beach Themed Parade”. To learn more about the parade or to register your float, please visit our Parade page.

Plan on bringing the whole family for the Pancake breakfast and a burger for lunch later. Marc Charlebois and Metro’s own Chris Shaeen will be the food coordinators again this year, and they promise there will be plenty of yummy eats at this year’s FunFair.

Attention Volunteers! The FunFair thrives because of the hardwork put in by the countless volunteers who lend a hand each year. We are always looking for new volunteers —this is a great event to meet members of the community and help a long-standing tradition. Each year the Showcase is packed full of exciting local businesses and organizations showcasing their goods and services. If you would like to take part in our FunFair  Showcase, Darlene Avelar will be our Showcase Manager this year. Contact Darlene if you would like to book a table for your business or organization.

The Used Book Sale is back to FunFair 2017 and two new members to our team Steve Rathwell and Sonia Marcotte have joined together to organise a FunFair favourite for all ages.

Move night is back – a family favourite. Jeff Miller will be organizing the Friday Movie Night in the Community Centre – stay tuned for the announcement of this year’s awesome movie.

In addition, a shout out to Kaitlyn Lecours, she will be running one of the all time favourites, the Dunk Tank, as well as the Paint Party in the Community Centre with her team from the Emily Murphy Non-Profit Housing Corp. in Blackburn.

Welcome back for the third year running, the Mixed Softball Tournament organised by Dwayne Stevenson and Bruce Laval.

Ticket sales will be handled by Mike Goulet and his team from the Knights of Columbus.

Our own Belinda Leung is in charge of Communications and the ever popular Field Games for all the little tots.

And last, but definitely not least, the Girls Softball team, led by Kaitlyn Chambers, will be running the beer gardens again this year.
